Do You Report Time Away From Work Through Us?

If you report absences from work through our site and your employer provides our Short Term Disability benefit, you may file a claim at the same time you report your absence.

Group Disability Insurance

If your organization provides group disability income insurance through The Standard, you may file a claim for benefits either online or by mail.

To File a Claim Online

  • If you already have an online account with The Standard, you can log in now.
  • If you have never logged in to The Standard before, you can create an account.

You will need your group disability insurance policy number to file a claim. Your benefits administrator can provide that information if you don't know it.

Attention New York Workers: To file a claim through your New York State Disability Benefits Law (DBL) plan, please download the New York State Disability Claim packet and follow the instructions provided.

To File by Mail

You may download a claim packet or request one from your benefits administrator.

 

Individual Disability Insurance

If you personally own individual disability income insurance, you can file a claim for benefits by calling us at 800.628.9797.

Life

Life Insurance

You can start the life insurance claim process by notifying us of a death online or contacting the employer, association or other organization that purchased the policy.

To Notify Us Online

  • If you already have an online account with The Standard, you can log in now.
  • If you have never logged in to The Standard before, you can create an account.

You will need the following information to complete a notification:

  • The life insurance policy or plan number (available from the benefits administrator of the employer)
  • The deceased’s Social Security number
  • The date of death

After we have been notified, we will review the policy and contact the designated beneficiary(ies) and other appropriate parties for any additional information we'll need to process the claim.

Waiver of Life Premium

Waiver of Life Insurance Premium

If your group life insurance policy includes a waiver of premium provision and you are unable to work because of a total disability, you may submit a request to continue your life insurance coverage as provided in the group life insurance policy without paying premiums during your disability.

To File a Claim Online

You will need your group life insurance policy number to file your claim. Your benefits administrator can provide that information if you don't know it.

To File by Mail

You may download a claim packet or request one from your benefits administrator.
