- Flexible benefit percentages: 30 to 70 percent of predisability earnings
- Maximum benefit amount of up to $25,000 per month (may vary with demographics and industry)
- Choice of benefit waiting periods: as low as 0/3 for some specialty voluntary plans; more common choices include 30, 60, 90, or 180 days, one or two years
- Definitions of disability covering own occupation, any occupation and partial disability from day one
